Hurghada or in Arabic: Al Ghardaka was once a small fishing village but has grown into a lively, exciting holiday resort on the shores of the Red Sea.
In Hurghada total tourism comes alive, offering everything for sun lovers, swimmers and divers.
A stretch of 50 km of beach hotels, bars, restaurants and shops. Hurghada, El Gouna, Marsa Alam and other new tourist destinations in Egypt means sun, sea and fun. In the north of Hurghada , lies the place that is closest to being a town, Dahar, which has more than half of the total local population, and the the most price worthy hotels and restaurants.
A couple of kilometers south, comes Sekala, a place that suffers from being between Dahar and New Hurghada a few kilometers more to the south. The new part or Village road is the most clean and quiet place in Hurghada. We call it the walking promenade. Also here you find a lot of quality restaurants, bazaars, bars and shops.
Red Sea The Red Sea is a salt water inlet of the Indian Ocean between Africa and Asia. The Red Sea is a rich and diverse ecosystem. More than 1100 species of fish have been recorded in the Red Sea, and around 10% of these are found nowhere else. This also includes around 75 species of deepwater fish.
The rich diversity is in part due to the 2,000 km of coral reef extending along its coastline; these fringing reefs are 5000-7000 years old. The reefs form platforms and sometimes lagoons along the coast and occasional other features such as cylinders (such as the Blue Hole (Red Sea) at Dahab). These coastal reefs are also visited by pelagic species of red sea fish, including some of the 44 species of shark.
